Spectre Performance 733 Low Profile Air Box Kit
Under hood hot air can heat soak the air going into your engine and rob your engine of horsepower. For this reason, Spectre has engineered these universal air intake systems for classic V6/V8 muscle car/pickup models with a GM factory or aftermarket throttle body injection assembly or carburetor with a 5-1/8 inch neck. This air intake system uses a chrome low profile, 14 by 3 inch tall round air filter housing with dual inlets positioned 120 degrees apart and a set of two black flexible air intake ducts. The zinc-plated drop base provides increased hood clearance and requires only a minimum of 2.4 inches above the carburetor/throttle body flange. To help block the hot under hood air the two tubes can be routed to a location that will provide cooler outside air.
- Chrome air filter housing with black intake ducts
- Low profile with drop base requires only 2.4 inches of clearance
- Includes a 12.6 inch diameter by 3 inch tall air filter
- Classic V6/V8 muscle car air intake system

The chrome is crap. When it starts to go really bad I'll sand it and paint it. The first pic is where I made a cut so that the aftermarket bottom wouldn't interfere with the metal scoops. I threw the Spectre air filter and base away and used my aftermarket dropped base. Pics 2 - 3 - 4- The K&N filter I had, A140E8, fit perfectly inside the housing and eliminates the issue of the bottom gap and really seals the unit super tight. Bolted up pretty close but I did have to relieve the hood underside a bit as the housing sits a bit high. All in all a days piddling around and it works great.
I didn't remove the high beams as it's a street sleeper and I wasn't wanting to advertise. So I bolted the hose flange to the core support right behind the headlight opening and it gets plenty of air without showing it off.

Update. I used a base off a specture high flow 4 inch open filter. It works nice. I'm running 2 spacers and I modified it to fit the stock intake adapter for the tbi. I had to cut a bolt to sit lower on the pan and got a specture dress up knob to replace the wing nut. Okay with 2 spacers it's kinda snug under the hood. I had to open up the front gap spacer of the hood. It runs great. Gas milage.... hahaha.... idk how to get that back up. I'm thinking it's an o2 sensor... anyways... new spark coil and NGK diamond spark plugs.... keep tinkering America... build it don't buy it.. this is a great part
